8. Project a positive attitude

You communicate your attitude in everything you do every day at work. When you’re frustrated, you may sigh or make a comment. When the day is going well, your body language will show you are "up."

People judge your attitude and you by your communication style. Because so much is at stake, it’s important to project a positive attitude in the workplace.

You can project a positive attitude in these ways:

  • Say, “Good morning,” and mean it.
  • Talk about possibilities instead of problems.
  • Replace negative comments with positive ones, or say nothing at all if your comments don’t improve a situation.
