3. Felony information

Most employers require complete details regarding any criminal charges against you. While a conviction may not disqualify you, a false statement on the application usually will disqualify you.

Guidelines for responding about felony information:

  • Explain any felony honestly and completely.
  • Make sure you do not hide any information. The employer will find out during a routine felony check, and lies will be apparent.
  • Write "Would prefer to discuss" if the felony situation is complex.
