6. Employment record

Match your previous responsibilities to the position you are seeking. Use keywords from the job description as a guide to which terms you should write in describing your previous responsibilities. Demonstrate in the application that you meet the minimum requirements.

Ways to handle your employment record:

  • Summarize completely each previous position.
  • Use "Would prefer to discuss" in the "Reason for Leaving" space, if the reason was negative.
  • Do not use employment that is decades old.
