
5. Solve problems
Organizations use teams because they are better at solving problems than people working alone. But teams don’t conquer problems by magic. Members need to make a personal commitment to work together to find a solution.
In a group situation, it’s easy to slack off and assume that others will do the heavy thinking. This undercuts the team’s effort. The team works best when every team member acts as a thinker and a problem solver.
Excuses for holding back:
- "This isn’t my specialty."
- "My teammates know more than I do."
- "No one will notice if I keep quiet."
- "I have too many other things to do."
