3. See the big picture

As a team member, you can’t concentrate only on your individual responsibilities. You must also help your team see the big picture.

Sometimes a team is overwhelmed with details and loses sight of the overall purpose. Or they may get so wrapped up in meeting one goal that they forget another one just as important.

Looking at the big picture:

  • A design team has brilliant ideas for making the company website more exciting than the competitors’. But as the members add features, the site becomes confused and hard for visitors to navigate.
  • At a meeting, Chacita speaks up to bring the big picture back in view. “The site is meant for customers,” she reminds them, “not for designers. It must be clean and easy to use.”
